IAN NICHOLS
SCHOOL: NYA
GRADE: Senior
SPORT: Swimming
ACCOMPLISHMENT: Set a meet record in the 100 breast stroke in 1 minute, 4.04 seconds, and also won the 50 freestyle in 22.39 seconds at the Southwestern South championship meet. He was swimmer of the meet.

EMILY ATTWOOD
SCHOOL: Cape Elizabeth
GRADE: Junior
SPORT: Nordic skiing
ACCOMPLISHMENT: Won the Sassi Memorial 5K classical ski race at Black Mountain in Rumford over a field of close to 400. She finished more than 40 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

SHINING BRIGHTLY

BASKETBALL
Sam Thompson, Greely: Had 19 points and 13 rebounds as the Rangers beat Falmouth.
Dominic Borelli, Westbrook: Had 21 points and 18 rebounds as the Blue Blazes downed Massabesic.

WRESTLING
Mark Richardson, Noble: Won a decision over three-time state champion Joey Eon of Massabesic 8-5 in the 145- pound division at the Western Class A regional.

HOCKEY
Brandee LeClair, Biddeford: Had 30 saves in shutting out Cheverus 1-0 in a game between the top two girls´ teams in Western Class A.
Mike Chase, Falmouth: Became the Yachtsmen´s all-time top scorer with 175 career points in a win over Cheverus.

ALPINE SKIING
Lauren Stackhouse, Yarmouth: Won the Western Maine Conference giant slalom by more than three seconds.
Kelsey Ouellette, Greely: Won the Western Maine Conference slalom by more than three seconds.
Chris Moody, Falmouth: Won the Western Maine Conference slalom by nearly four seconds.
Luke Booth, Greely: Won the Western Maine Conference giant slalom title by sixth tenths of a second.
