Class A and B state championship capsules

CLASS A
WHO:
Brunswick (17-0) vs. Thornton Academy (15-1-1)
WHEN: 12:30 p.m.
BRUNSWICK: The Dragons are making their first appearance in the state final since winning their first state championship in 2004. Hilary Champagne and Allison Watson lead an offense that has produced 87 goals in 17 games. Freshman goalie Lydia Caputi has posted eight shutouts.
THORNTON ACADEMY: The Trojans are playing for their first state title. Danielle Daigle, who has 10 goals, and Kaitlyn Hall and Ellie Arsenault, who each have nine goals, lead a balance offense that has produced 52 goals. Thornton has allowed only nine goals, and Sidney Proctor has posted a school-record eight shutouts.

CLASS B
WHO:
Winslow (17-0) vs. York (15-2)
WHEN: 5:30 p.m.
WINSLOW: The Black Raiders, who won their only state championship in 2000, are making their seventh appearance in the state final in 10 seasons. Winslow has a 83-8 scoring edge over its opponents. Senior forward Jordyn Mallett and freshmen forward Alliyah Veilleux each have 19 goals, and senior midfielder Kim Curtis has 18 goals. First-year goalie Jessica Gordon, a senior who made the switch from fullback, has 10 shutouts. No Eastern Maine team has captured the Class B state title since Winslow´s championship season.

YORK: The Wildcats are back in the state final for the second time in three years -- they beat Winslow 2-1 in 2007. In three tournament games, York has a 16-1 scoring edge. Senior midfielder Emma Clark, a phenomenal two-way performer, leads the team with 16 goals and 30 assists. Ashley Taylor, a senior forward, follows with 13 goals. Sophomore goalie Carly Lee has nine shutouts.
