FALMOUTH — Defending state champion Greely dominated play in its Eastern Maine girls´ hockey semifinal Monday night and beat Brunswick 5-1 at the Family Ice Center.
Top-seeded Greely (16-2-1) moves on to the regional final Wednesday night. The Rangers will play third-seeded Leavitt/Edward Little, which beat No. 2 Lewiston 3-2 in double overtime.
No. 4 Brunswick is done with an 8-12 record.
Despite keeping the puck in the Dragons´ end most of the night and outshooting Brunswick 54-7, Greely led only 1-0 through one period. Brunswick goalie Claire Mendes held off the Rangers in the early going.
"We really had a lot of opportunities, but (Mendes) did a great job," Greely Coach Nate Guerin said. "She made a lot of saves in traffic and off rebounds."

Brunswick began the third period with a Rachel Moroney power-play goal, assisted by Mary Sasso, closing the deficit to 3-1.
Greely finished the scoring with goals by Mary Morrison and Sarah Kurland.
The Rangers are 12-0-1 in their last 13 games. They split their season series with Leavitt/Edward Little. Greely lost 2-1 in December and won 5-1 in the regular-season finale.
LEAVITT/EDWARD LITTLE 3, LEWISTON 2: Taylor Landry completed a hat trick with less than a second left in the second overtime to give the third-seeded Red Hornets (15-4) a win over the No. 2 Blue Devils (14-5) at the Colisee.
