Coach: Mike Packard (7th season)
Last season: 10-9, lost in Western Class C quarterfinals
Top returners: F Austin Kane (Sr., 6-0), G Dylan Price (Sr., 5-10), C Steven Lawrence (Sr., 6-3), F Caleb Staples (Sr., 6-0), G Tyler Lafreniere (Sr., 5-6), F M.J. Flanders (Jr., 6-0), F Dustin West (Jr., 6-2), C Chris Hayden (Jr., 6-2), G Jared Miller (So., 5-6)
Key newcomers: G Derek LeBlanc (So., 5-9), G Ty Cowan (So., 5-9), G Mark Linkletter (So., 5-10), G/F Chase Malloy (Fr., 6-0)
Outlook: The Bulldogs took a hit in the preseason when Kane and Price, two of the team’s top players, each broke a hand in practice. Coach Packard expects both to return in mid-January, but until then, Madison needs to fill the offensive void left by their absence. Lawrence, Miller and West could provide an offensive spark. The Bulldogs have a tough early schedule. If they can stay competitive until the return of Kane and Price, the Bulldogs can contend for a spot in the regional quarterfinals for a second straight year.
Coach’s comment: “Somebody’s going to get looks, and if we run the offense, somebody will put the ball in the hoop.”
