Coach: Paul True, ninth year
Last year: 19-3, lost in state final
Returning starters: 3
Impact players: Sydney Hancock, sr., PG; Tiana-Jo Carter, jr., C; Kelsey
Winslow, sr. F; Sarah Hancock, soph., G.
Outlook: Athletic and ever-improving, the 6-2 Carter (15 points, 17
rebounds and 3 blocks per game) is a game-changer at both ends. Sydney
Hancock was named the top player in the regional tournament last year,
and True calls Winslow “one of the most under-rated players in our
league.” Senior forwards Savannah Devoe and Kathryn Cutting, and guards
Kayleigh LePage and Miranda Chadbourne will fill various roles. Western
champs in 2006-08 and 2012, the Lakers are comfortable being labeled the
team to beat. “We expect when we’re healthy to be able to compete with
whoever we play,” True said.
