Greater Portland Christian Girls Basketball
Elaine Beech of Greater Portland Christian gets off a shot as Haley Plante of Old Orchard Beach attempts to knock the ball away.
Coach: Keith Dawson, third year
Last year: 8-10, lost in West quarterfinals
Returning starters: 3
Impact players: Elaine Beech, sr., G; Kim Dawson, sr., G; Clarissa
Jones, fr., C; Ashlee Dawson, fr., PG; Rachel Ruel, soph., F
Outlook: The Lions have some talented players back from last year,
including leading scorer Beech, and their top 3-point shooter Kim
Dawson. Ruel is a newcomer who will help stabilize the defense. The
players are versatile, which should give GPC a matchup advantage. If the
bench develops, look for the Lions to make another playoff run with a
good mix of inside and outside play.
