Coach: Wade Morrill (5th season)
Last season: 15-5, lost in Western Class D semifinals
Top returners: G Carrington Miller (Sr., 6-2), G Josh West (Sr., 6-0), G Seth Malloy (Sr., 5-8), F Dylan Belanger (Jr., 6-0), G Teagan Staples (Jr., 6-1), G Jordan Gillespie (Jr., 5-5), G Devon Gillespie (Jr., 5-7)
Key newcomers: G Andrew Tremblay (Jr., 6-0), G Justin Miller (So., 5-8), F Colin Miller (Fr., 5-11), G Luke Malloy (Fr., 5-8), G Cody Lawyerson (Fr., 5-8).
Outlook: The Cavaliers return four starters and, with a talented freshman class, have one of the deepest teams in the East-West Conference. Carrington Miller (17 ppg), West (14 ppg), Seth Malloy (33 3-pointers) and Belanger (8 ppg) are each three-year starters. Newcomers Colin Miller, Luke Malloy and Lawyerson could contribute immediately. Morrill calls this the deepest team he’s had in his time at Valley, and thinks 10 players could be in the regular rotation, a rarity in Class D. How this team comes together, chemistry-wise, will be the key, but the Cavs have the potential to be a contender for the Class D West title.
Coach’s comment: “I do like our team. The goal is to advance as deep as we can get. We have the talent to be there at the end.”
