Coach: Josh Bishop (1st season)
Last season: 16-5, lost in Eastern Class A final
Top returners: G Nate Backus (Jr., 5-8)
Key newcomers: C Elliot MacArthur (Sr., 6-4), G/F Jamie Schank (Sr., 5-9), G/F Charlie Martin (Sr., 5-9), Kindle Bonsall (Jr., 5-7), F Brian Durrell (Jr., 5-10), G Colton Lawrence (So., 5-8), G Justin Evans (So., 5-8), G/F Drew Parsons (So., 5-10), F/C Kody Vining (So., 6-2), F/C Brad Durrell (So., 6-3), G Evan Backus (Fr., 5-4), G Devon Hoytt (Fr., 5-8)
Outlook: Longtime coach Jim Bessey retired in the spring, and Bishop inherits a young team with little varsity experience. All five starters from last season’s regional finalist graduated, and Cam Abbott, one of the top returning players, tore his ACL in football season. Nate Backus and Bonsall will be the team captains. Backus will play point guard, while Bonsall is a forward and a sparkplug.
Coach’s comment: “If we play good defense, I truly believe we can compete with anybody.”
