Matt Talbot, shooting over David Breunig and Keenan Lowe of Westbrook, scored 15 points and hauled down 17 rebounds to help Portland reach the semifinals of the Western Class A tournament with a 54-32 victory. The Bulldogs will meet top-ranked South Portland next.

Outlook: The Blue Blazes have good height and hopefully a more balanced offense than past teams. Lowe and the 6-5 Breunig are returning starters. Those two and point guard Bean are being counted on to provide senior leadership. Duncanson, Bean and Lowe can shoot the 3. “We’re not going to have to depend on one or two players for points,” said Karter. “The scoring will be more spread out.” The Blazes have some talented underclassmen they’re looking to develop. The team will look to run.
