Coach: Mike Susi (2nd season)
Last season: 3-15
Top returners: F Kale McCarthy (Sr., 6-2), G Doug Bryant (Sr., 5-10), C Jerry Chen (Sr., 6-5), G Price Li (Sr., 5-10), F/G Chris Bourdeau (Sr., 5-9), F/G Matt Lessard (Sr., 5-9), F Kamerin Alspaugh (Sr., 6-3), G Peter Peterson (Sr., 5-10)
Key newcomers: C Alex Weeman (Sr., 6-4), C Mitchell Hallee (So., 6-2), G Jonathan Santiago (So., 5-8), G Gunnar Lovely (So., 5-8)
Outlook: The Huskies ended the 2011-12 season with a big win over perennial power Camden Hills, now it’s time to try and carry that momentum into a new season. At 6-5, 295 pounds, Chen has the potential to be a force in the low post. McCarthy, Li, Boudeau and Peterson give MCI a quartet of three-point shooters. The Huskies improved over the second half of last season, now they need to learn how to put opponents away. If they do that, more wins will come.
Coach’s comment: “This is the last year they’re playing playoff games at the Bangor Auditorium and I’d like to see these guys get a chance to play there.”
