A sweep it's not, but I'll take 2 and 1
I didn't know what to expect against the Kansas City Royals.

The Kansas City Star reported that The Royals pitcher Darrell May was pretty sick and it may have helped him earn his first win of the season. Boston.com reports the "Red Sox lose their grip and can't finish off a sweep of Kansas City."

Perhaps it has something to do with playing on the "day of rest." On Sundays, the Red Sox have only won two of the six games so far. During those games they have averaged under 3 runs. If I were a betting man, I'd take Toronto to win on May 16.

I use to hate the intentional walk. I thought it sent a bad message to the pitcher. And, I hate seeing Barry Bonds being pitched around constantly. Then Mike Sweeney came to town. He knows how to hit against Derek Lowe. So, the Red Sox decided the best method was to walk him. In fact the Red Sox intentionally gave Sweeney first base three times. It worked. So, why did the Red Sox decide to pitch to him on his fourth at-bat? The Globe's Nick Cafardo discusses the strategy in his artcle: Red flag turns into white one.

I do not like pitch-hitting for Pokey Reese in the late innings of a close game when the Red Sox are trailing. It makes no sense. He is there for defense, so when do you need defense the most? When trailing in the late innings of close game? Now that Reese has had his two homers on Saturday, perhaps Red Sox management will think twice.

The Red Sox were dominating the games Friday and Saturday, that the Kansas City Star focused on Johnny Damon's hair. The Star writes about his new look in its article Talk of Damon's look latest basdeball shaggy story. I am not completely sold. However, it is so anti-Yankee, it's growing on me.

After six months, ESPN discusses Grady Little's decison to leave Pedro in during the seventh game of the ACLS. Why? Little is gone and the ACLS isn't for another six months. Must be a slow day in sports.

Slow day or not, the Red Sox have a game to play. The Sports Network offers a preview of tonight's game against the Cleveland Indians. The Indians' Jeff D'Amico will take the mound. Against the Sox, he is 0-4, with an ERA over 8. I look for the Sox to do well, but you never know the Red Sox are 1 and 1 on Mondays.
