Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes...

As I stated yesterday the Red Sox have changed a lot since the championship title.

Many of the changes have come in the rotation with the additions of David Wells, Matt Clement and Wade Miller.

One thing hasn't changed - it's still tough to catch a knuckleball.

I watched as Jason Varitek struggled seemingly with every pitch from Tim Wakefield last night. I'm not blaming Tek in the least, nor do I blame Wake. It is simply difficult. Wakefield's pitches had more movement than usual, baffling everyone.

It was frustrating watching the wild pitches and the passed balls accumulate. I must admit I was calling for a new pitcher as early as the second inning.

I tried to imagine what the result would have been had those ptiches stayed in the catchers mitt. But as Yogi Berra would say "hindsight is 50-50."

Wakefield isn't make much of a case to keep him in the rotation after Curt Schilling's return.

I expected Wakefield to struggle. I expected the Cardinals to run. I didn't expect the Red Sox offense to be non-existent.

Is Matt Morris that good? He sure looked that good. Boston.com reports on Morris' complete game.

There was a time that he showed great potential. Morris was mentioned as a Cy Young candidate. Fantasy owners would try their best to grab him in drafts. Then the injuries began. In fact a shoulder injury delayed his regular season appearance this season. He didn't seem that banged up as he recorded his seventh win. He is the only pitcher in the majors with seven wins, zero losses.

Matt Clement will try to join him tonight.

Without Johnny Damon, Boston's table-setter at the top of the order, its hard to expect too much from the Red Sox. I hope to see the long-haired "Caveman" soon. According to the Sox official Web site, he could return as early as tonight.

Mark Bellhorn is not the ideal leadoff guy. Yes, he gets on-base but, doesn't have any speed and strikes out too much for my liking. He's the No. 9 hitter for goodness sakes.

Luckily there may be a solution to all the ugliness. "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" took some of the Sox under its wing to help find a new look. The episode will appear tonight on Bravo. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch asks why stop with the Sox?

Hey Carson, while you're at it, the box scores could use a face lift.
