BOSTON — With the nonwaiver trade deadline a month away, Manny Ramirez has let his intentions be known to Red Sox management. This time he's not going anywhere. Ramirez, through his agent, Greg Genske, informed General Manager Theo Epstein last month that he wishes to remain with the Red Sox for the rest of his career. It's a major reversal from last year, when Ramirez demanded a trade just before the July 31 deadline.

Manager Terry Francona confirmed the communication between Genske and the Red Sox.

"I don't think I needed to hear that," Francona said. "Players' actions, the way they handle themselves, speak more volumes. That's what's important to me, and Manny's been stellar."
