79 is a great number....

It really pains me to tell everyone back home how warm it is here in Florida - but I'll do it anyway. Earlier this evening, I landed in Ft. Myers to begin my third spring training since joining the Sea Dogs in 2005. As the plane came to a stop, the pilot said “Welcome to Ft. Myers, it’s a beautiful 79 degrees.” It felt like Christmas morning when I finally got outside. There’s something to be said about the small pleasures in life – warm weather does wonders for our psyche.

Some news form the Fort on Sunday…Josh Beckett three to the Sea Dogs hitters during a camp game between Pawtucket and Portland…I’ll try and find out exactly who he faced at some point on Monday.

Talk about a difference of two spring trainings. Last year was the Dice-K mania; I was able to get a good taste of that. This spring, it’s awfully quiet around Ft. Myers with the Red Sox playing in Japan. The Minnesota Twins complex is not too far from my hotel and the airport but come on – this is a Red Sox city! The nice thing about the Red Sox being away, it makes easier to find places to eat without a wait.

Happy Easter to all…I’ll check back with you on Monday night.
