A different view

Today was probably the nicest day in South Florida since I arrived here in Sunday night. It's very interesting to here people in warm weather climates complain about the weather. It's weird to here the radio disc jockeys complain about mornings where it's only in the 50's.

The Sea Dogs played on the road today, I'll have an update from Arnie Beyeler later on. This afternoon, I watched some of the Single-A games the Red Sox Minor League complex. Kevin Boles (son of John Boles - former Marlins Manager) is managing Boston's Single-A Greenville club.

During my travels, I caught up some of Tommy Hottovy, who was finishing doing some work at the complex. In Spring Training, when the teams play on the road, they take only the pitchers that will be appearing in that game. Hottovy is going to spend the first part of the season on the disabled list and will remain in Ft. Myers. He was bothered with a shoulder injury that landed him on the disabled list last year.

Bryce Cox, who's coming off an injury, is working to get back into shape and hasn't pitched in a spring training game.

The big news from Japan was the demotion of Brandon Moss, what a difference a day makes for Moss and Oakland outfielder Emil Brown. In the opener, Brown made a baserunning blunder in the 10th inning, removing the tying runner in scoring position. In game two, Brown clocked a three-run homer off former Sea Dog Jon Lester.

Moss fanned three times after homering in game one. I'm sure Red Sox nation wanted him to be the everyday rightfielder after his game one heroics. It's a long season - Moss will be back.

I'll check back with a Sea Dogs report later this evening.
