From Binghamton...

Hello to all Sea Dog fans. For those of you who don't know, my name is Andrew Dobies and I am a member of the Sea Dog pitching staff. I wanted to briefly give you all a rundown on the team's thoughts, feelings, and expectations on the 2007 season thus far.

The team was a little distraught yesterday (May 3) after we dropped the final game in the series to Bowie as well as lost our top hitter in Jacoby Ellsbury to AAA Pawtucket. However, the entire offense has been producing in large amounts during the last couple series'. We have just reached our destination to Binghamton, NY at 5 AM this morning. What a drive. I've never seen so many guys twisted up in so many uncomfortable positions on a bus before for about nine hours. Although, we're lucky enough to be graced with Beau Vaughan's movie picking abilities. For those who don't know, Beau is yet to be stumped on the six degrees to Kevin Bacon game and he is probably the next greatest movie critic.

As for baseball, the team seems to be very optimistic about the season. There is a pretty significant amount of talent playing in Portland this year. Although, there are some pretty big shoes to fill due to the success of previous players who have played for the Dogs and moved on to higher ranks. I believe the 2007 team is a very tight knit club due to the majority of the players having been together since being drafted. Many guys will tell you that it's a little more easier being on the field next to others who you've known for a couple years. However, even the guys on the roster who are playing their first year in the Red Sox Organization are fitting in well and are having just as much success on the field. The guys are looking to play some solid baseball during this rare, short roadtrip to Binghamton and then return home for eight games in seven days. I hope you Sea Dog fans like doubleheaders!
Thank you for visiting. If you all would like for me to address something specifically, I'd be happy to answer your requests. It's now time to get to the field for batting practice in beautiful Binghamton, NY. Enjoy!
